Source: Christmas all Through the House by Gooseberry Patch
1 regular pkg brownie mix (+ all the ingredients that it calls for)
1/2 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. butter
3 oz. cream cheese
1/2 t. pepperment extract
green food coloring, if desired
crushed peppermint candies, if desired
garnish: chocolate frosting
Mix & bake brownies as directed on the box. Use the amount of eggs required for cakelike brownies. For the frosting, cream together the butter & cream cheese, then add the powdered sugar & peppermint extract. Add 3-4 drops of green food coloring. When the brownies are done baking, let them cool & then ice them with this green frosting & chill. Garnish with the chocolate frosting & top with crushed peppermint candies.
I made these for a couple of Christmas get-togethers & they were a huge hit! I used dark chocolate brownie mix & they turned out really tasty. And so easy! I added the peppermint candies part, even though the recipe didn't call for it I wanted them to be more festive. Enjoy!
